Artistic and cultural events in Grimaud

Art and culture are always honored in Grimaud and most often at prices accessible to all.

If you are passing through our charming Provencal village for a weekend or for a week, here are some ideas for outings.

Les Dimanches de la Scène

So named by the team of the “Petit Théâtre de Beausoleil,” this theater festival allows the public to enjoy quality performances. Every second Sunday of the month, regional troupes joyfully mix scenes from living art in a convivial but nevertheless well-written way.

These plays in French will please everyone: the young and the old, families and friends.  “Les Dimanches de la Scène” (Stage Sundays) also offer school events in the form of competitions subject to the sharp eye of professional jurors.

“Carnage au mariage” was performed on April 8th by the Charivari Troupe. On May 27th and 28th, you can discover and support the shows offered by different troupes of the Var school system on stage during the “Temps des Partages.” Entry is free, but reservation is mandatory at tempsdespartages@gmail.com.

The summer season takes place under the starlit sunlamps of the open-air theater of the famous Château de Grimaud.

Musical Evenings in Grimaud

Programmation des Grimaldines 2017

One of the most famous animations happens to be the festival of “Grimaldines.” These festivities take place every Tuesday, and this year they will start on July 11th, 2017 and end on August 8th. This is the opportunity for the Château de Grimaud to open its doors to the world of the night, for these evenings during which the medieval city resonates with the sound of world music.

Street concerts, entertainment, and festival dances are organized. Prestigious headliners are invited, such as Yuri Buenaventura in 2009.

For its 15th year, the lakeside town of Port Grimaud decided to strike hard again:  on Tuesday, July 11th, you will be able to applaud China Moses, and then Lucky Peterson on July 18th, and finally the great Gérard de Palmas, who will close the month on July 25th. In August, it is Flavia Coelho who will set crowds on fire on the 1st and 8th of August the famous Ben Uncle Soul will finish off the season.

Free Castle Visit

The castle of Grimaud on top of its hill

Once a month, free excursions are organized to allow you to experience this cultural heritage, a medieval castle dating from the 11th century.

You will learn that historians agree in describing it as a means of defense, that dates from the construction of its ramparts in the 13th century. Unusual fact for castles in the region:  much has remained untouched and intact.

As a guarantor of the village’s memory, the castle was declared a historical monument in 1928.

In 1990, work was undertaken to secure and preserve the site. For all that, it offers you an unobstructed view of the village and of the entire gulf of Saint-Tropez. It is within this château, let’s not forget, that the fabulous “Grimaldine” festival is organized.

Free Visit to La Chapelle Notre Dame de la Queste

Notre-Dame-de-la-Queste

Notre Dame de la Queste

As with the free visits to the castle, you are also offered free visits to the Chapelle de Saint-Roch and the Chapelle des Pénitents, both of which contain fabulous paintings. But let us return to La Queste, which, according to historians, has been frequented since the end of the 11th century. A small park encircles it poetically, where majestic trees, whose memory dates back to 200 years, are plentiful.

Its reputation is partly due to its source which, according to the legend, can cure diseases of skin and eyes. You can then follow the tourist circuit proposed by the tourist office, and discover the village for a walk that lasts about an hour.

We hope to meet you soon in the streets of Grimaud!

Buying a Marina in Port Grimaud: a great investment

Port Grimaud is an adorable and special lakeside town, with nearly 2,000 marinas and well-sheltered at the bottom of the gulf of Saint Tropez, which unravels across one tenth of a nautical mile. Surrounded by the salty scent of the ocean, Port Grimaud is a door that opens directly onto the great blue, space, and escape. Make no mistake about it: the well-named “Provencal Venice” is a gift for the blessed souls who lay their eyes upon it, an offering worthy of the most beautiful maritime artwork.

It is the accent of the Mediterranean that sings in your ear, its scents that sharpen your emotions and titillate the slightest sensations. But Port Grimaud is also a unique architectural ensemble, which was inscribed in 2002 in the Patrimony of the XXth century, the city having been imagined and built by the Alsatian architect François Spoerry starting in 1966. This builder was inspired by the heritage of the Mediterranean to the way of life in Provence and the most recent and modern methods of construction.

Acquiring a Marina in Port Grimaud

It is hardly worth mentioning that buying a property, whether it is destined to become a place to crash or a luxury reserved for rental, in such an attractive area will no doubt be on the radar of many tourists. Especially since there are plenty of attractions here, the least of which is certainly not the opportunity to go out on the open sea with family or friends.

house-for-sale-by-boutemy

Example of a marina for sale with its mooring right in front of the house

Granting yourself a getaway on the private beach of the Marina de Cogolin will guarantee you a relaxing day. You will be able to enjoy a small navigation center as well as an ideal spot, well-sheltered from the sun under the shade of the sails floating in the wind. Its ease of access and its familial focus are real assets. Less well known than the beaches of Port Grimaud, it nevertheless presents a most attractive appeal… facing the beaches of Sainte Maxime and situated only a few strides away from Saint Tropez.

However, without having to move too much, walking along the canals in the heart of the city has the advantage of being able to stroll on foot. You will meet other marina owners, who, most often, have sought refuge there after retirement, far from noise and appearances. They are also mostly wealthy owners, for whom the boat is often the most suitable means of transport, having opted for the calm and tranquility that make Port Grimaud a true haven of peace, unique in its kind, in the Mediterranean basin.

Each Marina Is Different

Each house has a particular character. No one house resembles another, and can even be very distinct, differing in terms of location and size of moorings. Their location and the view they offer onto the bay of Saint Tropez brings a personal touch to each owner. Although Port Grimaud now looks like an old Provencal village, but with an excellent infrastructure, it has become one of the most beautiful and coveted real estate projects in the world.

Marinas along the canals of Port Grimaud

The construction on Port Grimaud is exceptional, with its some 2,400 dwellings, stretching over 75 hectares and arranged in three districts, each managed in complete autonomy. Almost all the houses in Port Grimaud have their own moorings that overlook the façade. These marinas are therefore perfectly integrated into their environment. There is not the moorings with the anchored boats, and then further away the dwellings, and even further away the commercial district. Rather, here, everything is integrated: the moorings are located either directly in front of the houses or within the vicinity, and the shops are quickly and easily accessible, regardless of where in Port Grimaud you are staying.

One of the great advantages of Port Grimaud for boaters is that it offers all the services typical of a modern harbor. Everything has been designed, thought of, taken care of; you just have to choose one of the many properties currently on the market… via our agency, Boutemy Immobilier.

Springtime Opening Exhibition of the Geca Gallery

Grimaud is a land of culture and art, and it was with great pleasure that we attended last Friday the springtime exhibition of the Geca gallery, the den of the painter Georges Cabot.

On April 7, 2017, musical event and meeting with the artists during the Springtime Opening Exhibition of the Geca Gallery

On April 7, 2017, musical event and meeting with the artists during the Springtime Opening Exhibition of the Geca Gallery

Georges Cabot, also known by his artist name, Geca, painted with knife and acrylic superb colorful canvases of which the preferred subject is nature (snow and sea landscapes). He also presented us with magnificent abstract portraits and scenes from local life (Saint-Tropez, Provencal markets, The Girl and the Cat).

Mer Bleue by Geca (100cm x 100cm)

Mer Bleue by Geca (100cm x 100cm)

We discussed with him his art, his creative process, and the artists in his entourage.

Georges Cabot does not only exhibit his works at the Geca gallery. He also features talented painters, sculptors, and photographers. We were taken with Toffy’s mobiles, graceful sculptures that dance in the breeze and are not unlike Calder’s famous mobiles, as well as with the playful and colorful creations, and often romantic, of the painter Pierfranco Cerutti.

Over a glass of rosé or a glass of champagne and a generous buffet, we were able to chat with the artists and spend time with our trader and artisan friends of Grimaud and Port Grimaud and with all the art lovers from the area, as well as those who came from far away to share this evening with us.

Big thumbs up to Pierfranco Cerutti

Some of you were also there for the spring break, and it was against a backdrop of soft and enchanting music that we all had a very lovely evening at the Geca Gallery.

The gallery is open all year and we strongly encourage you to stop by your stay in Grimaud.

Rent a House in Port Grimaud: Benefit from Better Rates for Much More Space Than at a Hotel

Holiday rentals is the solution offering the best bang for your buck when it comes to spending a dream vacation as a couple or among family or friends.

This is especially true in a region like ours, where the price of real estate is relatively high and hotels are expensive. According to a study carried out in July 2014 by the site Allovoyages, it is necessary to spend at least €158 per night in a 3-star hotel in August. Therefore, for a week (6 nights) and for only 2 people, the total is €948 for a room of about fifteen or even twenty square meters, with the obligation to eat out for all your meals since there is no kitchen.

For the same price, we offer fully furnished and equipped apartments along the canals of Port Grimaud. You can accommodate up to 4 people.

If you want to come with your large family or with friends, we advise you to rent a house. For €2,000 on average, you will benefit from an exceptional deal: a large waterfront house, air-conditioned, overlooking the canals, and often equipped with its own mooring to dock your boat.

Here are some properties presented in video that you can rent:

An 87m2 house with 4 rooms, a mooring, and a parking space.

A fisherman’s house close to the beach for 6 people with a mooring and a parking space.
